Here’s what I shared in the video…

Let’s take a walk down memory lane, back to 2020 where I really didn’t meet my goals for the year (that’s totes happened a few years since - including in 2022)…although not in 2023, but the same principle stands!

Hey friend! 👋

I want to talk to you about what happens if you didn't hit your goals this year…

What happens if you look back and you just think:

“I like i feel like I'm at the exact same place as last year.”

Or you feel like you had all these big dreams and hopes and then here you are 12 months later, still not where you want to be.

This happened to me.

This morning. 🙋‍♀️

I have had this feeling for a few weeks now where I was just like “where did the year go? And what the hell did I do this year!!?

I mean, we've had great successes in our business this year we've:

  • crossed a million dollars in sales (which is no small feat!)

  • had so many unbelievable student successes come in and students telling us about what they're achieving in their business which was a part of what our Square Secrets™ & Square Secrets Business™ courses helped them do which is unbelievable!

But still this feeling was at me of how I wanted a quantum leap. I wanted to just explode into the next level of business! 🚀

And I honestly just haven’t done that Theyet.

So I wanted to share what I did this morning, and what I suggest you also do if you find yourself in a similar situation where you really wanted to have achieved something greater than you did!

How to move forward when you didn’t hit your goals this year in business

Step 1:

Grab your journal

The first thing I did was pull out my trusty journal and sort out what the hell I was actually feeling frustrated about.

I listed out everything.

I don’t know about you but sometimes I just need to get it out of my brain and then on to paper. ✏️

I just needed to give myself a solid half an hour of feeling crappy and annoyed before being able to move on.

I had to own the problem before I could fix it.

So without stopping to make it sound put together or polished, I just wrote down exactly everything I was thinking.

Step 2:

Reflect on what you actually did this year

If you're not achieving your goals you're probably feeling the same thing that I was this morning…

“I feel like I've worked so much but I'm not getting to where I want to be! Why!!???”

You look back at your your year and you think, “what the hell did I do with all that time??”

So that is the next step!

Reflect on what you actually did accomplish this year, or in the last six months or whatever it is!

Now, just trying to come up with this off the top of your head would be really difficult, which is why I went back through my Asana, which is my project management system which has what I should be doing each day.)

Or maybe you use some sort of physical planner!

Whatever you use to organize your life, go look back at the past 12 months and try to figure out where you’ve been spending your time.

Then write it down!

I wrote out this huge long list of all the projects I did this year and I’ll share a few of those with you to give you an example:

  • Focused on SEO

  • Started an affiliate program

  • Redid my Website

  • Created (and shut down) a corporation

  • Rerecorded my entire Square Secrets Course so that it would support both version 7.0 & 7.1 of Squarespace

  • Planned & launched business coaching

  • Created a video for sales page

  • Hired (then hired again)

  • Did a branding photo shoot

  • Signed a contract to collab with another company

  • Started a YouTube Chanel

  • Got legit business insurance

  • And about a bajillion other BTS things!

When when I look back at this list, I’m like…

“None of those are actually getting me where I want to go!” 🤷‍♀️

Sure, a lot of those things were to improve the business, or increase conversions.

But if I’ve been spending all my time on those back-end things and not focused on making that quantum leap I was hoping form, then obviously I shouldn’t be expecting a different result!

step 3:

Decide which of those tasks line up with your goals and therefore where to put your focus going forward

Got your list of completed projects/tasks for this year?

Now compare it to your goals.

If your goal is not jiving with what you’re spending your time on, then like me, there’s your problem right there!

In my case, there were legit a solid number of things that were exceptionally useful that we did this year.

So mark the positives of what was a good use of your time what worked out really well…

vs.

The negatives of what wasn't a good use of your time and what didn’t work out well.

Then choose to focus on the positives going forward.

The real reason for this video/post is to let you know that you're not alone in this.

You're not the only person having these problems.

Even people who are running million dollar businesses sometimes look back at their year wondering what the heck they did with their time?

I hope this was helpful for you and that if you’ve also been having this feeling, that going through these 3 easy steps will heal bring more focus and clarity for your path forward.

In the meantime, just know you have a cheerleader in me! 🤸‍♀️
